Timeless Elegance in Hand-Painted Pottery

Established in 1830 in the charming Yamashiro Onsen of Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Kutani Bitouen Pottery has been a stalwart in the realm of Kutani ware, showcasing a rich heritage of craftsmanship spanning nearly two centuries. Founded by Jinemon Noguchi, this pottery has been a guardian of the traditional Kutani ware style, known for its vibrant hues and intricate designs. Over the years, Kutani Bitouen has skillfully merged traditional techniques with contemporary aesthetics, producing pieces that encapsulate the essence of this unique pottery style.

Brand History

Bitouen, with a century-long history, aims to create contemporary and beloved Kutani ware for both Japanese and international audiences. They believe that Kutani patterns, reminiscent of the winter Sea of Japan with their depth and grandeur, embody a blend of modernity and international appeal. Drawing inspiration from Kutani's historical masterpieces like Ko-Kutani, Yoshidaya, Ko-Sometsuke (blue and white porcelain), Rosanjin, and Kinrande (gold-painted porcelain), including pieces acquired by the future Emperor of Japan, Bitouen crafts warm and user-friendly tableware suitable for everyday use.

Each dish is meticulously handmade, ensuring durability and comfort for daily table use. Bitouen invites users to enjoy these vessels in various ways, accommodating Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine. Recognized as luxurious souvenirs, gifts, and memorabilia, Bitouen's products carry a timeless charm.
